Is there a better time to release our 2017 Block 3 Cabernet than just as the Block 3 Cabernet buds are bursting?

No, certainly not. Our Cabernet sells out early every year and this 2017 is clear evidence as to why – classic Yarra black fruits, dark chocolate and silky tannins. It’ll age beautifully but seriously, you don’t need to. It’s big brother, the Block 11, just picked up a trophy at the Yarra Valley Wine Show and the same pedigree shines through in both wines.

If you love Cabernet or would like to know what all the fuss is about, come and visit our cellar door!

And we have a winner!

Everybody who came to our Barrel Hall Sale earlier in the month had the chance to win their height in Punt Road wine…and the first ones drawn out from the entries were Chelsea & Jon…here they are getting measured up for their loot!

Congrats, guys, just in time for Spring & Summer!

Tim Shand and Andre Napoleone took a short stroll from the winery this morning to show our Block 11 Cabernet vines exactly what they’d won last night –

Trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon in the Yarra Valley Wine Show!

It’s a very special part of the vineyard, 27-year-old vines (SA125 clone) on free draining alluvial clay loam with a south easterly aspect. The aspect works, giving the vines a break from heavy late afternoon sun,  allowing the naturally low yields to ripen slowly and build concentration. In the winery, cold soak followed by fermentation and then pressed to a mix of new, 1 year old and 2 year old Taransaud and Nadalie French oak for 15 months. Bottled, then entered into the Yarra Valley Wine Show. Sounds simple and it is when you start with fruit like this.

…we’ll keep you posted on when the Block 11 Cab will be available!
