A postcard from our importer in snowy New York…bit different to high 20’s and ripening grapes in the Yarra Valley, hang in there!

All this nasty NY snow has us nostalgic for cozy holiday gatherings and craving red to warm us back up. #winterstormquinn

MELBOURNE FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL

We’ll be there pouring all your favourites, swing past and say hello!

Winemaker, Tim Shand, took some glorious photos of the vineyards on the first day of picking for 2018 on the weekend.

Definitely a contender for ‘Worlds Best Office’!

Cabernet Sauvignon’s turn for veraison…not long now…

We expect to be picking some varietals this week!

First maturity analysis for the year!

At the end of veraison (when the vine is putting all its energy into the fruit, and the grapes colour and soften), we begin to sample and taste the fruit to see when we will harvest. From experience, we know which varieties and blocks will be picked first, but every season throws up a few surprises.

Pinot Noir SamplesPictured are samples from our oldest blocks of pinot noir and chardonnay. These often ripen the earliest as they set a small, even crop. Things are looking a bit earlier than last year, and I predict we’ll harvest these beauties in the next fortnight.

Well, well, well…where have YOU been? Merlot is now BACK with a ripping 2017 limited release only available at cellar door and our website. Single block from 30 year old vines (happy birthday to them!), it’s got the classic merlot characters stitched up…ripe plums, hints of cedar, rosemary and dusty tannins. And all from the brilliant 2017 vintage. Be quick
